Boston,MassachusettsPaula Griswold, M.S., is the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Prevention of Medical Errors, a statewide public-private partnership established to improve patient safety and reduce medical errors. The Coalition includes state and federal government officials, consumer organizations, professional associations representing hospitals, physicians, nurses, and long-term care institutions, professional liability organizations, researchers, health plans, and purchasers.
She has more than twenty years experience in health policy, program development and implementation, and leadership in collaborative efforts. Prior to her work at the Coalition, she served as Director of the Health Institution Performance Partnership, a collaborative program between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and its network hospitals and medical groups to improve health care quality. During her tenure as Chairman of the Massachusetts Rate Setting Commission from 1988 to 1995, she led the agency’s effort to assist providers, purchasers, and health plans in developing programs to improve quality and efficiency, publishing “Preventable Hospitalizations in Massachusetts” and establishing the Asthma Improvement Network.
