United StatesJohn A. Robertson holds the Vinson and Elkins Chair at the University of Texas School of Law at Austin. A graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School, he has written and lectured widely on law and bioethical issues. He is the author of two books in bioethics? Rights of the Critically Ill83) and Children of Choice: Freedom and the New Reproductive Technologies (1994), and numerous articles on reproductive rights, genetics, organ transplantation, treatment of handicapped newborns, and human experimentation. He has served on or been a consultant to many national bioethics advisory bodies, including advisory bodies on organ transplantation, assisted reproduction, and fetal tissue and stem cell transplantation. He is a Fellow of the Hastings Center, and serves currently as Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
