Tarzian, Ph.D., M.A., is a Research Associate for the Law and Health Care Program at the University of Maryland School of Law and an independent consultant in research and ethics. Her professional energies have been directed toward a diverse range of issues in health care, including ethics and ethics consultation, end-of-life care/hospice, palliative care, multiculturalism, under-served populations, and health care reform. She is Chair of the Education Committee for the Maryland Healthcare Ethics Committee Network and Chair of the Maryland Nurses Associationís Center for Ethics and Human Rights. Dr. Tarzianís research and scholarly work has been published in various peer-reviewed journals, and she has given professional presentations and invited lectures in the United States and abroad. She received her Ph.D. in Nursing and Ethics from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1998. Prior to that, she earned a Masters in Intercultural Nursing from the University of Maryland, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rush University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Knox College.
